They have a lot of options in their store, but I wanted something I could throw in the backpack we carry around with all our kids stuff. I realize that most people don't need Type 1 related stuff for 3 people, so fitting in things for all of us wasn't going to happen. But I was able to fit all the testing material, extra insulin, batteries, syringes, pod, Veggie Go strips for low blood sugars, a Grif Grip and alcohol swab in there. Oh and a quarter for the times my old school Medtronic pump needs a battery change. The only thing I wasn't able to fit is the Medtronic Mio infusion set that I keep in our backpack in case JC or I need's an infusion change while we're out. Also, it's worth noting that the first one we received had a zipper that got stuck and I knew it was going to break if we kept using it. Customer service was wonderful and they shipped out a brand new one right away when I let them know the problem we had with ours. Type 1 Diabetes Caregiver Confidence This is a great book written by Samantha Markovitz, who was diagnosed with Type 1 as an adult. It goes into all the basics someone like a grandparents, baby-sitter or teacher would need to know to keep a child with Type 1 safe. I have personally used this book by giving it to all of Aiyla's pre-school teachers to help them learn a little more about how to take care of her. It's pretty technical and detailed, but that's kind of what you need to get tight control. I personally think it might be a little overwhelming for someone newly diagnosed, but it really depends on your personality. If you want to know all the details about different features of an insulin pump and CGM, this is a great book.
